ZTE pushes out the world’s first Nvidia Tegra 4 smart phone with the U988S. It’s not every day a company like ZTE produces a worlds first. The company is well known for its mid range and entry level handsets that usually turn into carrier branded models. Devices like the Sprint Vital that recently leaked make no mention of the manufacturer. Sometime last year the company announced they would make a push to improve their consumer branding and subsequently launched the likes of the ZTE Blade III Pro, Director and Force all of which do not have carrier branding before their names. Taking their branding a step further into the world of early adapters and smart phone geeks alike ZTE is set to push out a highly capable smart phone.

Back in January at CES Nividia, the infamous “global technology company” set forth their plans to move forward with their latest and greatest mobile SOC chipset, the Tegra 4. The processor is set to come with four cores and is built around an ARM Cortex-A15 design. Since its debut most manufacturers have not jumped on board. The chipset can currently be found in only a handful of tablets. ZTE is set to change all of that with their U988S. Pictured above are renderings of what the device is expected to look like. PhoneArena.Com got their hands on these pictures as well as a few more rumored specs. The device is assumed to come with a 5 inch full HD 1080p touch screen display and be built around a rather slim 9mm body. Internally the ZTE U988S will run with a 1.8 GHz Tegra 4 processor, 2 GB of RAM, expandable micro SD memory options and it is said to be running with Android version 4.2.1. Additionally this new ZTE super phone is expected to come with a 13 mega pixel rear camera with a 2 mega pixel shooter up front. And with that, the details cease. Pricing, launch dates and its official name are still unknown.
