The ZTE Iconic Phablet becomes the Boost Max
The ZTE Boost Max becomes official! ZTE is well known across the lands for making some rather affordable hardware. Most of the time when you see a ZTE device here stateside it will come with carrier branding as if the carrier made the handset. Usually its companies like ZTE and Huawei who are manufacturing the devices and more times than not, the carrier branded handset is available somewhere else in the world under a different name. The new Boost Max is a shining example of this. Once known as the Iconic Phablet, the Boost Max is born.
Back in January deep into the days of CES, ZTE announced a phone with a somewhat humorous name. The Iconic Phablet held no punches about its absurd size and plays into the trend with a rather absurd name. During the event the specifics of the handset were exposed showing the handset would only have CDMA connectivity. The announcement from ZTE stated the handset would “eventually be sold in the US” and our thoughts went immediately to Sprint or Verizon. Looking back, Verizon may have been high hopes. Either way the ZTE Iconic Phablet has indeed made its way stateside and is now known as the Boost Max. The Boost Max is available now and will run you approximately $300 bucks. This of course off contract and attached to Boost’s mobile network. The Boost Max starts with a 5.7 inch touch screen display that offers up a 720p resolution and easy access to Android venison 4.1. Internally the handset comes packing a highly capable Qualcomm made Snapdragon 400 chip set that provides a dual core processor that clocks in at 1.2 GHz. Additionally we’ll find 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage and a rather large non-removable 3200 mAh battery. Around back the Max sports an 8 mega pixel camera with LED flash while a 1 mega pixel front facing sensor rounds out the cameras. The backing to the ZTE made Boost Max is wrapped in a nice aluminum finish and should prove to be an excellent seller for Boost.
