US Cellular Announces a Galaxy S II to call their own
How does that saying go, better late than never right? That could very well be US Cellular’s slogan when it comes to picking up new devices. In some cases US Cellular is always a step behind the major three in acquiring new goodies for their retail shelves. While there are a few exceptions when the carrier picks up devices first or at the same time as its larger competitors, usually the company gets to pick high end smart phones from the pile of left over’s. Or so it seems. A next generation Galaxy S II device has finally made its way to the bands of US Cellular, and end users could not be happier.
This new Galaxy S II model made its rounds through the ceremonious FCC enlistment camp earlier this year in January. The device code named the Samsung SCH-R760 is the latest and greatest device to hit the carrier’s shelves since the Hero S. US Cellular has made the device official today via a good old fashioned press release. Of course the press release does not mention any release dates; however the company has the device listed on their site as coming soon, so surely it will be available in the coming weeks. The US Cellular branded Galaxy S II will cost you about $230 bucks, but only after a $100 dollar mail rebate and guaranteeing your commitment for the next two years. So what is in a name? Well it’s very similar to the Sprint Epic 4G Touch version of the Galaxy S II, only it is limited to 3G connectivity only. Internally you’ll get the same greatness that all GSII users are experiencing. It starts with Android version 2.3, aka Gingerbread and goes on to get better, I promise. When you pick up the device you will be staring and most likely drooling at its 4.52 inch Super AMOLED Plus display that provides a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The US Cellular Galaxy S II will get its go from a 1.2 GHz dual core Exynos processor, just like all the other variants outside of T-Mobiles version, this of course will backed by 16GB of internal storage. Around back you can also expect an 8 mega pixel camera that is capable for recording video in full 1080p HD and a 2 mega pixel shooter up front. Other details embedded with this new GSII, based on the Epic 4G Touch, are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI and DLNA connectivity. Are you a US Cellular customer? Have you been waiting on this opportunity? Well it will soon be your time to shine.
