The Samsung Exhilarate Enters The Budget Minded Market with some Awesomeness in tow
One may think with the launch of the Galaxy S III underway, Samsung may take a step back and have a minute to themselves, but alas, there are non Galaxy using smart phone owners out there, work is never done! Earlier this year At&t took the stage for their developer summit. In the midst of announcements, deals and fun times a new crop of sub $50 LTE handsets surfaced including the Pantech Burst and Samsung Exhilarate. The Pantech Burst was released shortly their after but the Samsung Exhilarate seemingly got lost in the tides alongside the announced, but scrapped Skyrocket HD. Today however, brings new life to the 4G LTE equipped budget phone.
At&t has gone on record making the Exhilarate official with Youtube video, press release and all. You know its official when you make a video for it! Set for release on June 10th the Samsung Exhilarate will be offered up for a measly $50 bucks, on new contract of course. But what should you expect from a fifty dollar smart phone? Well a lot more than you’d expect. The bar for the budget sector of smart phones has just been raised. The Samsung Exhilarate, albeit not a Galaxy has a lot to offer. Its recycled body houses a perfectly sized 4 inch Super AMOLED touch screen. The Exhilarate runs with a just out of date Android version 2.3 and of course the likes of Samsungs very own UI TouchWiz. Delving a bit deeper into the Exhilarate shows the smart phone to sporting a dual core 1.2 GHz Scorpion CPU. Around back the Exhilarate uses a 5 mega pixel camera sensor that is capable of recording video in 720p HD. Up front a 1.3 mega pixel shooter can be seen allowing for the very best in video conferencing. The Samsung Exhilarate is also UL Platinum certified. As the second At&t device and first LTE device to receive this bestowed honor, it simply means the device meets requirements to be deemed “environmentally preferable” as set by UL aka Underwriters Laboratories. Because of this honored achievement, At&t will use the Exhilarate as their first test subject to be put through the companies eco-rating system which is set for unveiling later this season.
So a Super AMOLED touch screen, a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4G LTE connectivity and a recycled body for $50 bucks….who’s in? The Samsung Exhilarate is a sweet deal and is sure to help lead the way to higher powered budget minded smart phones. But how do you feel about it?
