The Sprint Ready Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE World Phone Becomes a Reality
Another day, another leaked device and another pretty nice handset making its way to the yellow clad now network! Back in June an awesome blurrycam picture (taken with an EVO 4G LTE) of a new Sprint ready, Motorola QWERTY sliding device surfaced to the top of the interwebs. The picture of the handsets appeared on the AndroidCentral forums and instantly captured the attention of Android and Sprint lovers everywhere. But the details were scarce and there were more questions than answers. Luckily for inquiring minds, Sprint took its earning calls recently and the companies CEO spilled the beans!
The original Motorola Photon was released back in June of last year. It came with a kickstand, WiMAX 4G, some high powered internal specs and a rather bulky build. This new Photon Q sheds the kickstand, upgrades to LTE 4G, has some awesome internals, but unfortunately from what is known now, still has a rather bulky build. The forum user who leaked the picture had this to say about the Photon Q’s build, “Well, it was fat…..REALLY fat”. While this is both disappointing and expected, considering its keyboard build, there is a good chance the final product will be thinned out as this is indeed a prototype product. Shortly after its time as a leaky rumor the Photon Q became one step closer to reality when it passed through the halls of the FCC earlier this month. After these details surfaced anyone interested was left in the dark about additional information, until just yesterday the CEO of Sprint, Dan Hesse dropped a few details on the Photon Q during the company’s earnings call. Quoted as calling the device the
company’s latest “LTE world phone” that will be entering the fray “very soon”, the Photon Q quickly became very real. Shortly after these comments, Sprints worker bees took the streets to give us what we all wanted, details! The Photon Q 4G LTE as it’s called will have a slew of features that make it a rather impressive handset. First and foremost it will be “Sprint’s first 4G LTE device with International roaming GSM capabilities and QWERTY keyboard”. Internally it will pack in a 1.5 GHz dual core chipset, with 8 GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of ROM and of course external microSDHC memory options. Its screen will measure in at 4.3 inches and carry a qHD build with a 540×960 pixel resolution. The Photon Q will also come packing an 8 mega pixel rear facing camera that can record 1080p HD video as well as an additional front facing “HD camera”. Additionally the handset will come with Bluetooth version 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS and NFC. Expect the Photon Q to run with the likes of Android 4.0.4 and a version of Motorola’s Blur UI, that’s actually not called Blur.
So is anyone interested? Release information and pricing is slated for announcement in the “next few weeks,”. Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think of the new Motorola Sprint Photon Q 4G LTE. And remember, the best in Motorola accessories are here.

I have a few more questions. Will it also carry a 16gb or 32 gb internal sd for the phones built in memory and will this one have a possiblility of being a quad core… I like some of the features but were still left in the dark will the battery life be as good as the galaxy s3 and the nexus lte phones… is there going t be.motorola photon Q2 with these specs I listed so far this phone is not up to par with the current lte phones its specs are weaker. And I love the qwerty key pad but I don’t think I will get this one. I’m still uing the samsung galaxy s epic 4g and I just wana make sure I get something that can run circles around the I phone 5.. when it comes out without hearing it frm those mac lovers.
