The Sony Xperia ZL To Launch in Europe for £599 April 1st
The Sony Xperia ZL gets pricing and availability announcements. Early last month CES took center stage for the mobile world. The show lets manufacturers show off their latest in wares. While the show was not as exciting as events gone past, Sony made a bit of splash with their Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. The Z variation of the two got all of the attention as it is a bit more powerful, slightly thinner and water proof! While the Xperia Z was released earlier this month around the UK it looks to be the Xperia ZL’s turn now!
Details of the handsets launch and pricing have been brought into the light by telecompaper.com who reports that Phone House Germany will offer the device for about £599 off contract. While that’s not necessarily cheap, UnwiredView points out that the price will most likely not vary by much across the UK. Checking Phonehouse.de shows that you can indeed place an order for Xperia ZL for said price and it will become available from the first of April. The Xperia ZL if you haven’t been paying attention is a slate style device that sports 9.8 mm thin build, houses a 5 inch TFT touch screen that offers up Android version 4.1.2 in a 1080×1920 pixel resolution. The ZL gets its go from a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro system chip with a quad core 1.5 GHz processor, an Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. You can also expect expandable microSD memory up to 64 GB and a 13 mega pixel camera with a host of tricks up its sleeve. Additionally the Xperia ZL will pack in GPS+ GLONASS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, microUSB 2.0, MHL, DLNA, MHL and NFC. Also known as the Sony C6603 the Xperia ZL while not cheap per-say will surely have enough going for it to keep your connected.

Hmm, the ZL just got approved by the FCC. So, if it comes to Verizon within the next 2-3 weeks and is priced < $100 with contract, would I choose this phone or the Pantech Perception? That would be a tough call. The ZL has better specs – the only downside I can see is the battery is not removable like it is on the Perception.

Argh, probably a moot point. The specs for the ZL indicate it will use band 17 = AT&T, and not band 13 = Verizon…
