Sony Set to Up the Smart Phone camera with the Xperia i1 Honami

Sony is set to introduce the camera centric Xperia i1 Honami. The camera’s on smart phones have become increasingly more powerful year after year. Every other season of smart phones the mega pixel race steps up a few notches. This year of two thousand and thirteen has specifically seen an influx of awesome phone based camera sensors. The HTC One took a step forward by introducing ultra pixels, Nokia is toying with their PureView ideas and even the average smart phone camera has taken a leap from 8 to 13 mega pixels! But even with all this camera advancement, there is still major room to grow and it looks like Sony is taking steps in watering the camera plans with their latest Xperia i1.

In its hay day, Sony Ericsson held the camera on a mobile phone pretty close to their chest as they lead the charge with their Cybershot technologies. As it is just Sony now it looks like the company will be getting back to some of it imaging roots and folding their camera know how into one awesome smart phone. Apparently, that smart phone is currently code named Honami and is expected for release this fall under the Xperia i1 moniker. According to the new details surrounding the handset the Xperia i1 will come packing a 16 to 20 mega pixel camera with a Xenon LED flash and 1/1.6” sensor. This, would be an amazing camera packed into a smart phone and would surely perpetuate Sony back into the smart phone world! Additional details give the Xperia i1 a 5 inches full 1080p HD touch screen with “Triluminos technology”, a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, dust and water resistance, and a 2700 to 3000 mAh battery all stuffed into a frame that is said to measure in at a mere 10mm thin. While details on this new super camera phone are currently mere rumors, it will be interesting to see how well Sony’s new phones do in a market becoming surrounded in camera specs.
