Sony Ericsson’s Xperia roadmap revealed, Froyo not in the cards
When Sony announced there Xperia X10 model was coming to the states, many were interested in taking a look at the device. When details of that announcement stated the X10 would be running Android version 1.6, well the “in the know” crowd shook their head in disappointment, rather disbelief as launching a device with a severely outdated OS does nothing for anyone, you included Sony. When the Xperia model was officially announced almost a year ago, the device ran 1.6. Sounds good a year ago, but the OS is on 2.2 at this point.
Today however brings the Xperia crowd an update. Now it’s not Froyo so don get all crazy on me. A leaked picture of Sony Ericssons Xeperia roadmap that has been unearthed by XperiaX10.net shows some updates for the device, but no 2.2. The update will be moving the Xperia X10 to Android 2.1. The new update will allow Xperia users to shoot video in 720p, also providing HTML5 support. The update will also include up to 5 home screens and updates to Timescape and Mediascape. A few other devices show to be getting the upgrade, with specifics not mentioned, the Xperia, X10 mini, X10 mini pro and X8 are slated to get the update.
Not sure how you feel about this, but Sony Ericsson most definitely must have a new device waiting in the wings, as these Xperia devices are clearly outdated. SE user? Let us know how you feel about Sony Ericsson’s update plans.Sony Ericsson, Android, 2.1, 2.2
