Samsung’s LTE Droid Charge Coming Soon

Looks like Samsung is getting in on a little Droid branding these days with the new Droid Charge. Verizon is rolling out its LTE 4G services across the country, while the progress is slow in certain areas it seems that LTE compatible phones hitting the market are slower. Talk to anyone who has had the chance to use Verizon’s LTE and they will tell you – its fast. Only problem is there is one phone that can use the LTE network, it’s called an HTC Thunderbolt. There are also a series of mi-fi and mobile hotspot devices that will give you LTE and soon enough LTE phones will inundate the country. However rumors are adding another LTE option to Verizon’s buffet, Samsung has enlisted the Droid Charge into the LTE good fight.

The Samsung Droid Charge was first spotted in line with the likes of the HTC Thunderbolt and the Droid Bionic at CES 2011 this year with no name. New information on the ‘Red Eyed’ Droid Charge has surfaced thanks to the folks at Pocketnow.  A picture and some rough specs shed light on the new Droid and it’s a little monster. The Droid Charge as it’s known now was codenamed the Stealth and is also known as the SCH-i510. Basically the Droid Charge is a Droid branded Galaxy S device.  The rumored specs on the Droid Charge, list its screen at being a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED beauty that carries the standard Android soft keys just below it. The Droid Charge is said to be running Android version 2.2 and carries an 8 mega pixel camera on its rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera up front. The 8 mega pixel camera on the rear of the Charge can record your precious moments in 720p. The processing behind the Droid Charge’s goodness is powered by a 1GHz HummingBird chipset. Other goodies to expect would be HDMI output, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. Oh and in case you missed it the Droid Charge is also LTE 4G compatible and will be enslaved by Samsung’s TouchWiz.

The Droid Charge by Samsung is expected to launch in April. If original guess-timations are correct we may see this puppy by April 7th.  Is the Samsung Charge appropriately named? Ask a Driod user and see what they say. It’s pretty ironic to say the least. Check out the new Droid Charge and let us know what you think of it. Is this your new Droid?
