It seems like only yesterday we were talking about the new Galaxy S4 and all of its glory. But just yesterday, Samsung Unpacked their new S5 handset, making the S4 more of a distant relic. The company during their announcement stated they’ve sold over two hundred million Galaxies since the series was introduced back in 2010. So what’s up with the next generation Galaxy? A bit of the same mixed in with some cool new features and an excellent spec sheet!
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the next generation flagship from Samsung and will begin to hit American carriers starting Aprtil 11th. The major carriers including Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, At&t, U.S. Cellular and Metro PCS will see the handset first and of course it will find its way to the smaller service providers shortly thereafter. So what can you expect from the next generation class leader? Well, the S5 starts with a 5.1 inch 1920×1080 Super AMOLED touch screen that offers up awesome colors at 432 pixels per inch. The screen is built into a rather thin 8.1 mm plastic housing and gives its end users access to Android version 4.4.2 with a heavy touch of Samsung’s infamous TouchWiz UI. Internally the handset comes packing a highly capable Qualcomm made Snapdragon 801 processor, which uses a quad core 2.5 GHz processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 or 32 GB of storage and expandable micro SD memory up to 128 GB. Around back of the S5 is a 16 mega pixel camera with LED flash and a host of features including 4K video recording, up front a 2.1 mega pixel shooter resides. Additionally the S5 is IP67 certified which makes it water and dust proof and comes with connectivity options such as, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB 3.0, and NFC. Lastly the Galaxy S5 comes in a very familiar shape and design and if you look to quick you’ll see a GS4. The design however adds an oddly familiar dimpled rear cover, a finger print scanner for security, an IR Blaster, and a heart rate monitor. Offered in blue, white, black and gold you can expect the S5 to be available starting in April.
