The Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G Becomes an Offical Metro PCS Handset Option

The Samsung Droid Charge is a device that seemingly impressed the hands of mobile fate as it has just been reincarnated…again! The Samsung Droid Charge was initially launched on Verizon as one of the company’s early 4G LTE devices. Unfortunately like most of the carrier’s early 4G LTE handsets, it fell a bit short of expectations. But the Droid Charge is a shining light in design that a lot of people seem to like. The handset was repackaged and launched on US Cellular in April earlier this year as the Galaxy S Aviator and now it seems the handset will get a new launch at Metro PCS as the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G! Yes the Lightray.

The Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G showed up in leaky internal Metro PCS training documents and was initially exposed on Howard Forums late last month. Since its early leak Metro PCS took to the streets and made the Galaxy S Lightray 4G official. While the device looks to be and is surely built from the legendary Charge, it’s actually slightly a bit different. Almost unnoticeably, the “chin” or “peak” at the bottom of the phone seems to have been rounded out a bit. The new Galaxy S Lightray 4G is available right now with Metro PCS for $459. But what can you expect for such a price tag? Well a cheap affordable bill that’s for sure, but specs wise, the Lightray 4G is a nice little phone with enough power for any user. The Lightray starts with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus touch screen that packs in an unknown pixel resolution. Internally it runs with a 1 GHz chipset, expandable microSDHC memory up to 32GB and with an unknown amount of RAM. Around back it sports an 8 mega pixel camera with an LED flash that can do auto focus, Geo tagging and 1280×720 video recording. Up front a 1.3 mega pixel shooter is ready for self portraits. The Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G, will run with Android version 2.3 out of the box. It has 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth version 3.0 and HDMI connectivity. It also comes with a new up and coming mobile TV service Dyle Mobile TV.
