Samsung Announces the February 24th Unpacked 5 Event
Samsung schedules a date for the Samsung Galaxy S5 debut! Many moons have passed since the dawn of the Galaxy S4 and this morning we have the first official sign that the S4 will be replaced! The Samsung Galaxy S series of devices have come a long way and are about to reach their fifth iteration. Ironically enough and following suit with most other Samsung announcements, the specific details surrounding what the S5 will have to offer is leaking all over the interwebs this morning. March of last year gave us the Galaxy S4, this year the Galaxy S5 reignites the Galaxy flame!
Late last night Samsung decided it was time to announce their next Unpacked event. An unpacked event, if you’re unfamiliar is the chance for Samsung to take center stage at some grandiose venue to show off new devices and its ‘value added’ software. In recent years Samsung’s Unpacked events have been filled with some rather odd production and we are hoping for more of the same for Unpacked 5. The company announced its event last night and has it scheduled for Monday, the 24th of February and it will take place in Barcelona, Spain after the first full day of MWC. While the question as to what the company will be announcing is mostly assumed, what the Galaxy S5 will offer is still unknown. Luckily for us the anticipation allowed Eldar Murtazin, a Russian journalist to scrounge up some specifics about the handset. Murtazin was one day off with the companies’ 24th announcement as he predicted Samsung would announce the S5 on the 23rd. Shortly after the companies Unpacked announcement Murtazin has posted some specs surrounding the S5. While we will take the spec’s with a grain of salt, the source at this point is to be believed! According to the leak the Galaxy S5 will come with a 5.24 inch AMOLED touch screen that will offer up a 2560×1440 resolution at 560 pixels per inch. Internally the leaks suggest an Exynos 6 or Snapdragon 805 to be powering the device while 3 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of internal storage. Additionally the info goes on to state the S5 will pack in a 16 mega pixel rear facing shooter as well as a 3.2 front facing camera and it will all be powered by a 3200 mAh battery. So there you have it folks, an official announcement date and a not so official spec sheet will have us holding our breath for the next twenty days, how about you?
