The Affordable Samsung ATIV Odyssey Finally Becomes an Official Reality

You may or may not remember that new operating system that was recently released by Microsoft, Windows Phone. The company and its new operating system is currently building a full head of steam by posting up pop-up kiosks and dropping the dubstep beat all over town! While the new Windows Phone OS has some pretty awesome features including a super unique tile based home screen and an army of hardware manufacturers making some rather awesome handsets, it just seems that the new brand of mobile has not broken down any doors. But it looks like the new Samsung ATIV Odyssey may be pointing its efforts toward the right side of the market place…the mid range!

In the past, the Samsung ATIV Odyssey was put through its paces of rumors, leaks and details of the like. Starting back in October when Microsoft let part of the cat out of the bag by letting the name known. Fast forward a month and reminisce of the ATIV Odyssey are left on the floors of the FCC halls and a solid leak from @evleaks proves the ATIV Odyssey is on the way. What was originally slated for a December release has become official this day of January the 23rd. Starting tomorrow you can pick up a Samsung ATIV Odyssey for only $50 bucks after a $50 dollar mail in rebate and a contractual agreement for two years with the services. So what should you expect for one hundred smack-a-roo’s out of your pocket? The Samsung ATIV Odyssey is not a flagship handset, it’s not a super phone, but it is indeed a smart phone that will get the average user and even a power user or two what they need to stay connected. It starts with a 11mm thin body that houses a 4 inch 480×800 Super AMOLED touch screen that offers up 233 pixels per inch. Internally it comes packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 system chip with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, Adreno 225 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of built in storage and expandable microSDHC memory. Around back of this new handset is a 5 mega pixel camera that can record video in full 1080p HD as well as a front facing shooter that offers up a 1.2 mega pixel sensor. Additional connectivity from the ATIV Odyssey can be had in its GPS, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, microUSB 2.0 and NFC.

And, that about sums it up. Does anyone care to take on Windows Phone 8? This new ATIV Odyssey is affordable and capable. Anyone interested? Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think, but before you run be sure to check out all the best Samsung accessories.
