The Pantech Vega R3 Adds Another Oversized SmartPhone to the Phablet Niche
The rise of the oversized smart phone, also known as the phablet is seemingly in full swing. In recent history Dell was one of the first companies to offer up an amazingly large smart phone. Unfortunately for the manufacturer their idea didn’t quite take off, that is until Samsung took a stab at the market. Shortly after Samsung’s entrance to the niche the idea seemingly blew up. With the Note selling in high quantities and competitors like LG taking to the segment with their own Optimus Vu which is also known state side as the LG Intuition. As other manufacturers like HTC are rumored to offer up their own oversized smart phone it leaves you to wonder who is next. Well, a good old fashioned press release has given us a glimpse into the next phablet and this one is offered by Pantech!
Pantech is well known in the states as company that usually produces smaller more affordable feature and smart phones. Luckily for anyone state side that is offended by oversized smart phones, its plans on becoming American is non-existent. The Pantech Vega R3 as it is called will be released to all major carriers in South Korea today, September 25th. Outside of your opinions on super large screens this Pantech Vega R3 packs in some high powered specs. The Pantech Vega R3 starts with a huge 5.3 inch Natural IPS Pro LCD touch screen that offers up a 720p pixel resolution. Internally the Pantech Vega R3 can handle almost anything you toss it way. It comes running the likes of Android version 4.0 with a Jelly Bean update in its future and a more than capable Snapdragon S4 Pro Krait Quad Core 1.5 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM and a Adreno 320 GPU. This ironically sounds very similar to the recently announced LG Optimus G. Given these particular specs settings the Pantech Vega R3 should surely give its VU and Note competition a run for its money. Around back of the Vega R3 a 13 mega pixel camera is available for all your photography and video making needs. The battery in the Vega R3 clocks in at 2600 mAh and can provide up to 360 hours of standby time and about 14 and half hours of talk time.
