The Optimus 3D 2 shows off a bit more before Official Announcement
3D technologies have always suffered from what I call “a flash in the pan syndrome”. 3D imaging, or stereoscopy technologies have been around for a very long time and has come a very long way from its humble beginnings. Throughout its history we have seen end users fall in love with its novelty and then ultimately pass it off as a brain freezing, dizzy spell inducing gimmick. As the wave length of its popularity rises and then subsequently falls, we can rest assured there are companies plotting on its climb back to the top of mount acceptance. LG seems to be that company. Recently, our worlds advanced technologies have allowed us to have 3D displays that do not require those pesky blue and red glasses. HTC and LG assumed the responsibility of reincarnating 3D on our mobile phones with the glasses less advancements. After a rather underwhelming reception and a searing in the pan last year, it looks like HTC was the only one who got the message…hopefully.
Meet the LG Optimus 3D 2. Late last month we got a look at what could be the coming successor to the original Optimus 3D. Also known as the CX2, the Optimus MAX or simply put the Optimus 3D 2 is on its way to resurrect our mobile 3D needs… Etnews.com, a Korean based news outlet has exposed a new rendering and some additional details of the Optimus 3D 2. From this new picture, as compared to the original leak it is safe to assume future Optimus 3D 2 users will get a selection of both black and white variations at the point of purchase. Additional details claim that LG has put the Optimus 3D on a diet for its second go around. The original measured in at a huge 11.9mm thick, while the second generation is said to have been redesigned for a more competitive size measuring in at only 9.8 mm thin. Additionally the source says the second gen Optimus 3D has put on a perfect fighting weight by slimming down 20 grams now measuring in at around 148 grams. The report goes on to confirm the Optimus 3D 2’s HDMI and DLNA compatibility and puts the device on at least one carrier, SK Telecom. Additional details have piled up to make the new Optimus 3D 2 a rather impressive handset. According to the rumors it comes packing a 1.2GHz dual core processor, IPS display, two 5 mega pixel cameras, 8 GB of internal storage, NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n and of course the previously mentioned DLNA and HDMI connectivity. The Optimus 3D 2 is slated to be unveiled at MWC in the coming weeks. Also on a side note, we here at WirelessGround.com recently received an Optimus 3D 2 standard battery by LG from a world renowned supplier, so the device does indeed seem to be very real
