Nokia’s White Knight Lumia 900
Why it that white devices are usually the fabled myths surrounding a particular device? Is this due to Apple’s ongoing saga of the white iPhone? Or is the fact that most of the beloved high end smart phones initially ship in plain ol’ black? Whatever the case may be the white smart phone hype is building around the recently announced Nokia Lumia 900 and surely Nokia could not be happier. Call it what you will, but white colored smart phones are a point of interest, and Nokia’s Lumia 800, Lumia 900 and N9 have all now been spotted in a white suit.
In case you’re unfamiliar the N9 is the MeeGo pushing Nokia device that laid the ground work for the Lumia 800 and 900 devices. While the two are slightly different, but practically the same devices they vary only in availability and color options. In the past few days however, pictures of both white Lumia 900’s and 800’s have surfaced. The white Lumia 800 was made official by Nokia and is scheduled to hit shelves come March. The white knight Lumia 900 however was leaked just one short day after the 800’s official foray into white. The white Lumia 900 was accidentally (or so they say) published on the companies “Conversations blog” and has since been removed. The picture of the device which was still on the company’s Facebook page shows off a front facing camera and a micro USB port. These two traits ultimately expose this as a white Lumia 900. To further confirm this white horse Dave Zatz of zatznotfunny.com, was offered a white or black model when placing his Lumia 900 pre-order at a Microsoft store. The initial launch date on the At&t branded Lumia 900 was given a March 18th date. If the Lumia 800 will be available in white come March and the 900 was just “accidentally” leaked into the wild, I’m sure we can expect a white option come launch time. The Lumia 900 offers up some impressive stats in the specs department. First it supports At&t LTE 4G data speeds and runs the latest in Microsoft’s WP7 operating system. Its screen measures in at 4.3 inches and uses an AMOLED display with ClearBlack technologies. Its polycarbonate plastic body houses a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon processer, 16GB of internal memory, a super huge 1830 mAh battery, an 8 mega pixel camera, with an additional 1.3 mega pixel shooter up front and the list goes on and on. The Lumia 900 should still be ready for a March 18th launch and will most likely be ready in all color options.
