Nokia Launches the Lumia 525

The Nokia Lumia 525 becomes an official piece of Nokia hardware! The Lumia series of handsets is slowly but surely becoming akin to Samsung’s range of Galaxies, ultimately providing a piece of hardware for every end user in nearly every market. Most recently high end ‘flagship’ devices like the Lumia 929 and the oversized Lumia 1520 have taken the spotlight off of the more common mid range Lumia handsets. Today Nokia has revealed a new mid range device however, the Lumia 525. The Lumia 525 is essentially a culmination of the five hundred and twenty series Lumias. From the 520, to the 521 it looks as if the world is being introduced to a Lumia 525.

The Nokia Lumia 525 has appeared leaking in the wild in the past. Way back in September the device was leaked with a code name of Glee. Just a few short weeks later in late October the un-release Lumia 525 appeared in an advertisement by Nokia that would ultimately give away the device and “tix to a show in Canada” to a lucky contestant. Shortly after its foray into sweepstakes, press renderings of the Lumia 525 appeared in the wild showing off its awesome and now Lumia branded color range. Today however the leaky rumor trail comes to an end with a few official words from a horse’s mouth. The Lumia 525 has gone live this morning to a rather unofficial announcement with a delayed press release.  PocketNow however has uncovered “one of Nokia’s localized Facebook pages” stating the new Lumia will”be available on 14 December at the suggested retail price of SGD249 at Nokia Stores and Nokia Solution Partners”.  Current conversions of Singapore dollars to American dollars put the price point at around $200 bucks. So what can we expect from the 525? Just a bit more than what the Lumia 520 has! The new Lumia 525 starts with a 4 inch IPS LCD touch screen that offers up a 480×800 pixel resolution and is built into a 9.9mm thin housing. Internally it runs with a Snapdragon S4 dual core processor that is clocked in at 1 GHz. It is also backed by an internal GPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and expandable micro SD memory options up to 64 GB. Around back a 5 mega pixel camera capable of HD video. Additionally, the Lumia 525 has the expected standards as well including GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro USB.
