Motorola i1 Coming to Boost Mobile
Within the next few weeks the market will get their hands on the first smartphone which works much like a walkie-talkie. Known as the Motorola i1, this particular device will be sold under Boost Mobile. The device comes with a series of firsts. The Motorola i1 device is the first Android powered push-to-talk smartphone. It is also the first to be released which has a built in 5 MP camera with flash capability, autofocus and video. In addition, this device will be one of the first that will be utilizing the Opera Mini 5 Web Browser. The Motorola i1 has GPS and is Wi-Fi capable.
The device is not a high level smartphone. Its screen size is fairly large, measuring 3.1 inches. A possible deal breaker is the fact that the device is only running on Android 1.5. This is a big deal considering Android 2.2 Froyo is already underway with some of the current models running or upgraded to Éclair.
At $349.99, the initial price on this device may stun those who were planning to buy this device. However, in comparison to other smartphones, users will not be forced to sign up for any plan or service contract. In addition to the prepaid type device, owners of the Motorola i1 have a choice of whether they wish to use the Boost Mobile $50 monthly unlimited plan. Beginning June 20, the device will be available for purchase online as well as in Boost Mobile Retail Stores and Best Buy shops.Motorola i1, Android, Boost Mobile
