The Motorola Droid Ultra and Ultra Maxx Get One Step Closer to Launch
The Motorola Droid Ultra and Droid Ultra Maxx gets show off for the masses. Way back in August of 2011 Google dropped nearly thirteen billion dollars in acquiring Motorola for their own, hardware manufacturing pleasure! The deal was initially looked upon by those of us paying attention, with an open jaw and a vast imagination of what Google could do with that type of resource. But most importantly, some of us were hoping Google would quickly kill off the Droid namesake that has plagued Motorola’s branding in the past. While popular and of course profitable the Droid namesake seems to have another round of devices under its new owners watch. With all the rambling and rumoring surrounding the Moto X project, the Droid Ultra and Droid Ultra Maxx have just entered the room from deep in left field.
Way back in June of this year @evleaks got some juicy details surrounding Motorola’s future. The leaky source stated that Motorola would be producing a Droid RAZR Ultra as well as a Droid RAZR M Ultra and that both devices would be “coming to Verizon”. Further corroborating the rumor Droid-Life.Com was told to expect a Droid Ultra, Droid Ultra Maxx and Droid Ultra Mini into the mill. Keep in mind however their source dropped the RAZR namesake from the models. Early this month also provided evidence to the loss of the word RAZR as Motorola themselves have created an Ultra splash page with no mention of RAZR branding. Fast forward to this past weekend and it looks as if we have a picture of an actual Droid Ultra and a rendering of a Droid Ultra Maxx. The white Droid Ultra pictured above was published yesterday on XDA by a member with no other posts and unfortunately the mystery leaker made no mention of what the device has to offer. It was however named the Motorola Droid Ultra XT1080. Over the weekend Evleaks published a rendering of what they are claiming to be the Motorola Droid Ultra Maxx aka the XT1080M. The report from Unwiredview.com also states the Droid M Ultra will come with a model number of XT1030. These latest variations of Droid are assumed to have been in development long before the Google buyout and will launch in the coming months. The Moto X project is said to be the first set of smart phones built under the eye of the Goog’s.
