Motorola’s Bullet and Jet – Set to be the first Quad Core Smartphones?
It feels like only yesterday, when I was told 1 GHz processors were to be found on upcoming cell phones, and my mouth is still open in amazement. Once the idea of 1GHz processors in our phones became clear in my head dual core 1GHz processors where on the way, leaving me with little room to figure out what the heck can we do with that much power in our phones? We are now seeing the likes of 1.2 GHz dual cores within tablets and cell phones and it seems that technology has little to wait on with the likes of quad core processors on the way. Yes folks, quad core processors in your phone. What could you possible do with that much processing power in a phone? Well the idea, in case you missed it, is pop them in there and the rest of the world will figure that out – just as soon as the next gen is on the way.
Earlier this year the folks at Nvidia let the world take a gander at their roadmap. This roadmap essentially shows off an upgraded processor every year, expected. But new rumors are circulating that Motorola may be eager to take on Nvidia’s new Tegra 3 “KaL-El” quad core processors for new devices. The rumor which sounds to be completely logical is that Motorola is planning two new devices that will run Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core processors, by early next year.
Motorola’s Bullet is the newest device circulating the rumor mill and its specs are pretty sweet. The new Motorola Bullet is said to have a 4.3 inch qHD screen with a pixel resolution of 960 x 540. The Bullet is also said to carry 1GB of RAM or possibly 1.5 GB, 16GB of internal storage, NFC technology and a 12 megapixel camera, oh and yea a Tegra 3 quad-core processor. But that’s not it of course, the Motorola Jet is another Tegra 3 quad core rumor that will share the overall specs of the Bullet, but have a slightly smaller screen at 4 inches and a full QWERTY keyboard. These two devices are said to potentially come equipped with Verizon’s 4G LTE network, which is possibly the only spec I will blindly believe in this listing.
So let us know what you think of Quad Core phones, and what you could potentially accomplish with such power in your pocket. Love the future.
*Update – Looks like Droid-Life got their hands on what is could potentially be one of these new units – Judging by the looks of it, maybe the QWERTY flavor?NIVIDA, Bullet, quadcore, tergra3, motorola
