Motorola Moto G Announced for US Cellular
The Motorola Moto G makes its way to US Cellular on the cheap! The story surrounding Motorola is like a geeked out fairy tale of awesome advancements and squandering profits. Awhile back Google took it upon themselves to acquire Motorola Mobility. The company soaked up Motorola’s endless patent portfolio, had a hand in the Moto X and Moto G and then sold off what they could to Lenovo. Today’s piece is not about the companies past or present, but does take a look at the Moto G and its destiny!
The Moto G was announced back in November of last year. Approximately three months prior to the Moto G’s launch Motorola announced the Moto X. The Moto G was set to be the low end or mid ranged handset within the Moto series line up. Given its price and its ability to work with most any carrier the Moto G was shortly deemed one of the best smart phones of the year. As the handset continues on its world tour, it looks as if a new carrier has joined in on the craze. Late last week the Motorola Moto G was officially launched with the carrier US Cellular. The best part about this announcement is the carrier is pricing the handset at a mere $100 bucks! The price is without any long term…or short term contract for that matter and is a discount of around $90 bucks according to the carrier. So to sum that up, an awesome phone for under a hundred bucks, attached to a decent carrier without being forced to see out two years with them. Keep in mind the carrier also has some rather affordable plans that start at around fifty bucks a month. If you’re unfamiliar with the Moto G it is an excellent device that starts with a 4.5 inch LCD touch screen display that offers up a 720×1280 pixel resolution at 329 pixels per inch. Internally it comes with a Snapdragon 400 system chip that uses a quad core 1.2 GHz processor, Adreno 305 GPU, 1 GB of Ram and 8 GB of storage. Add in the likes of GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and micro USB connectivity it is almost unbelievable this handset will sell for $100 bucks without a contract!
