MicroSoft’s WP7 will launch on ALL 5 major UK based carrier’s the day of
Microsoft will be launching their highly anticipated WP7 in the coming weeks. A mid to late October time frame has already been stamped on this new OS. However, until now it was unknown which carriers would get the said devices. Obviously the usual come to mind, but of course recent information has ousted any CDMA operator at the starting gate. But today brings us news in regard to WP7’s future and it surely looks bright.
Today Microsoft announced that when WP7 goes live it will be made available to the top five UK based carriers. These carriers include T-Mobile, Orange, O2, Vodafone and Three. Other details from this bit of information state that UK retailers such as The Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u will also be carrying the devices come launch time. Alex Reeve, the Mobile Business Group director for Microsoft, had this to say within the release. “Following our announcement at Mobile World Congress that Orange will be our lead partner, it is wonderful now to have all of the UK’s network operators supporting the launch of Windows Phone 7. This means we can provide network choice and also a range of phones across networks for customers to choose from, all with the power of Windows Phone 7. We are thrilled to be working in partnership with these major industry players.”
As more and more information surrounding the launch of WP7 comes into fruition it becomes harder to bear the anticipation. Sounds like a good strategy for Microsoft, having a larger than life launch in the UK as opposed attempting to compete with the Apple drones here in the states, surely fitting to say the least. But the world is still waiting for WP7 and I for one become more interested as the days go by, what do you think about the new WP7 devices?vodafone, O2, windows, Orange, Microsoft
