The Lumia 521 Passes FCC Filings Headed to TMo
A new Lumia 521 destine for the shelves of Tmo. There is some big news out of the magenta clad carrier recently as the company has readjusted its business model to be a bit more consumer friendly. And while the carrier has finally, officially gotten the nod to sell iPhones it looks like a new Lumia may be filling in some space on store shelves. Nokia is currently pumping out awesome handsets from both sides of the spectrum and everything in between. The latest to hit the headlines is the Lumia 521.
Recently the Lumia 520 made its way through the FCC approval process but is mostly a global roamer that if need be will hit stateside in an unlocked fashion. But for those looking for a more traditional, ‘made for carrier’ device, the Lumia 521 is a new option. Also known as the RM-917 the Lumia 521 made its way through the halls of the FCC early this week and is expected to hit the shelves of T-Mobile as previously confirmed by the carrier. While an exact release date is still unknown, its FCC filing gives it a sooner than later connotation. So what can you expect from the new Lumia 521? Firstly the Lumia 521 is AWS compatible which will pull in 4G HSPA+ data speeds. The new handset will be running the latest in Windows Phone 8 and will give its users control over the OS via a 4 inch display with a 480×800 pixel resolution at 235 pixels per inch. Internally the 521 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8227 system chip that offers a 1 GHz dual core processor, an Adreno 305 GPU and 512 MB of RAM. You can also expect 8 GB of Ram and expandable microSD memory options up to 64 GB. Around back of the 521 you can expect a 5 mega pixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities. Additional connectivity can be found in the likes of GPS with Glonass, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, Hotspot and a microUSB sync and charge port. While the date of release is indeed unknown it may be safe to assume this Lumia 521 will be rather affordable under TMo’s new pricing and plans.
