Acer teaming with Ferrari for Liquid E
Acer is one of the largest producers of computers but is relatively unknown in the smartphone industry. The company may be taking risk, targeting a more specific sector of the market. The sector we are referring to involves fast cars, more specifically the Ferrari. This is not the first time Acer and Ferrari have collaborated on a project. Both companies produced a similar theme with the netbook. Although the shiny red color of the Liquid E makes the device look sleeker, the special theme is not expected to make huge waves in the smartphone industry.
The was actually first announced February 2010. It measures 4.53 in. x 2.52 in. x 0.50 in. with a 3.5 inch WVGA capacitive type touch sensitive screen display. Although the special theme makes the device look high end, the engine under the hood is not as hot as the frame looks. The device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 768 MHz, not as fast as the HTC Desire or other smartphones already on the market. It does, however, already use Android 2.1 OS known as Éclair. This means owners of the device will be able to enjoy services common on the Android OS such as Gmail, YouTube, GoogleMaps, access to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook as well as access to several thousand Android apps.
The theme does extend beyond the paintjob. Installed are numerous Ferrari related content such as images, videos and ringtones of a Ferrari revving up. For a more complete look, there is also a corresponding mobile case and accessories which have the same theme.
Ferrari fans interested in getting their own Liquid E should head to the nearest Rogers branch as the carrier is the exclusive provider for this device. Service plans for this Liquid E from Acer cost $49.99 for 3 years, $324.99 for 2 years, $374.99 for 1 year and $424.99 for those who do wish to avail of a plan altogether.Ferrari, Acer, Android, Liquid E
