The LG Optimus VU II Is Announced
The fight for oversized smart phone dominance is slowly starting to heat up. As the consumer presence for the oversized phablets grows more contenders enter the ring and more viable options are created. As Samsung and LG seemingly dominate the arena a few more challengers like Pantech enter the scene with the Vega R3 and a rumor of an HTC Dix is still lingering. With Samsung recently updating their Note to the appropriately named Note II, it looks like LG will not let themselves be left behind as the company has just made the specs official for their LG Optimus Vu II.
The original Optimus VU from LG was announced just a short while ago in February of this year. A week or so later and the device was on store shelves throughout Korea. Its presence here stateside however was just recently made a reality when the LG Vu made its way to Verizon as the LG Intuition. The Optimus Vu II however has just been announced over in Korea. The device is set to sell for about 966,900 ₩, which loosely translates into about $864 bucks. A US announcement is most likely well off into the future, however a release date for interested Korean consumers should be somewhere within the next 28 days, that at least according to a Google translate of the press release. So what is new to the Optimus VU II? The new Optimus VU II starts with a 5 inch IPS LCD touch screen that measures in at a 768×1024 pixel resolution at 256 pixels per inch and offers the same perfect 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s RAM as been bumped up from 1GB to 2GB while the ever popular expandable microSD memory option has been added in as well. Internally this new monster sized smart phone runs with a Snapdragon S4 Plus dual core processor that clocks in at 1.5 GHz and gets a bit of graphics help from an Adreno 225 GPU. The device also now includes LTE connectivity as well as VoLTE. Additional connectivity can be found with the likes of Bluetooth version 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, MHL, DLNA, and NFC to name a few. Around back of the VU II is an 8 mega pixel camera with LED flash and a few camera tricks up its sleeve including full 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. Up front a 1.3 mega pixel shooter is available for…whatever it is people use front facing cameras for. The VU II also upgrades its battery pack from 2080 mAh to 2150 mAh. Also, the Optimus VU II includes an update to the line ups stylus with the Rubberdium Pen 2.0 stylus. The Optimus VU II will come running with the likes of Android version 4.0. Anyone interested?
