The LG Optimus Vu shows off a 5-inch screen with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio
The age of tablet phones is upon us once again. It seems that smart phones over 5 inches have a tendency to pop up and then disappear. This phenomenon is quite similar to the whole 3D thing that went around like a bad cold recently, but remember folks it will be back! While the ‘standard’ size of a smart phone may be a whole other beast when it comes to it catching on, the move to 5 inch plus smart phones is seemingly back in the batter’s box. While a 3.5 inch to 4 inch device seems like the sweet spot for smart phones, it did not stop companies like Dell to push out the Streak or even Acer with their more recent foray into the larger space. More recently Samsung has taken to the niche with their super popular Galaxy Note. The Note is 5.3 inches and has sold over 700k in South Korea, and it looks as if LG is rolling with the trend (again). So is the future of smart phoning going to blend the lines of tablet and phone?
Today, LG let the flood gates leak a little on super large smart phone named the LG Optimus Vu and just like that your future supersized options have improve. With the tease comes little information surrounding the device; however those interested in the leak are assuming a world debut at forthcoming Mobile World Congress, which is scheduled to take place in the next few weeks. So what does the Optimus Vu have to offer you? A whole bunch of screen that’s for sure. The Optimus Vu’s screen measures in at a still smaller than the Note 5 inches. An important point, at least in the marketing materials is the 5 inch screen will carry a 4:3 aspect ratio. According to a loose translation in the comments section of Engadget, a piece of the video below says the ratio is the best viewing ratio in the hands of humans! Simple humans… Other details of the Optimus Vu are an embedded a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 SoC processor somewhere deep within the huge device. The rumors are also expecting 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM, NFC connectivity, and Android version 2.3 topping off the early spec list an 8 mega pixel camera. Take a gander at the promo video below, and let us know what you think. Is there a pico projector and stylus embedded within the Optimus Vu? All the details will surely reveal themselves in the very near future, possibly February 21st?
