The LG Optimus Pad LTE becomes Official and Heads to Korea

As the popularity of the iPad soared most companies jumped into the ring to compete for a piece of the slated pie. LG is no exception. Last year the company pushed out their first tablet, the G-Slate or also known as the LG Optimus Pad. This tablet rocks some cool features like a 3D camera, a dual core Tegra 2 processor and an 8.9 inch touch screen. LG is back and ready for round two of the tablet race with the newly announced Optimus Pad LTE. Currently in Korea this new slate is being called the first LTE tablet. So what does this newly announced tablet have to offer? Well, it’s a spec competitor that is for sure.

This Optimus Pad LTE was spied a few times late last year and confirmed any lingering rumors of a 4G refresh of the G-Slate. This new tablet out of Seoul sports the same size screen of the original G-Slate but improvements are indeed evident. The new tablet uses an 8.9 inch True HD IPS display that measures in at a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The Optimus Pad LTE measures in at a mere 9.34 mm thin and only weighs in at 1.1 pounds. Internally it just gets better. It uses the power of a un-skinned Android version 3.2 and gets it super smooth powers from a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor and 32 GB of internally memory. Around back the third D of the G-Slate has been dropped off to be replaced with a single 8 mega pixel camera that can record video in high definition. An additional 2 mega pixel camera can be found up front for what the kids are now calling ‘video conferencing’, amongst other things. More details include a huge 6800 mAh battery, HDMI and DLNA connectivity and expandable micro SD memory up to 32 GB. It of course is indeed 4G LTE compatible and will be made available in Korea next week and run its end users about 880,000 won, which translates into about $772 freedom bucks. Sounds like what the G-Slate would have been if it wasn’t for that pesky 3D trend!
