Multiple LG Nexus 5 Variations Rumored to differ by Battery Size?
The LG made Nexus 5 set to come in two different flavors with two different battery sizes? As we are all well aware most smart phones of the day are offered up in two variations, a 16 GB model and a 32 GB model. Previous generation devices also sported 8 GB variations, but that small storage size is proving itself more of a differentiator in the lower end segment of the market place. Currently the 16 and 32 GB version are standards amongst flagships. When smart phone manufacturers put together devices some of the major components including memory, camera sensors and even screen quality are knocked down a peg in the name of price. But can a battery be downgraded to save a few bucks? If the new rumors surrounding the Nexus 5 are to be believed, it seems to be the case.
Details about the Google bound Nexus 5 have given the world a rather clear picture as to what we can expect from the forthcoming handset. Curiously however, a red flag has been looming over the devices spec sheet as most information is pointing at a 2300 mAh battery. For an average user that may not seem like an issue, however this is an amazingly small battery for a 5 inch smart phone and could prove to be rather disappointing in day to day use. But the name of the Nexus game is affordability! The Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 handheld’s are quite possibly the best ‘bang for your buck’ devices available. The Nexus 5 is rumored to come with all sorts of high end features including a 5 inch touch screen, an 8 mega pixel camera with image stabilization and a class leading Qualcomm 800 CPU, so where can they cut the proverbial corner to save a few bucks? The battery! PhoneArena has been tipped off that Google will be launching the 16 GB Nexus 5 with a 2300 mAh battery, while for an extra $100 bucks, you’ll get not only a 3000 mAh battery but also a larger battery that offers up a 3000 mAh cell. So, $299 for 16 GB worth of storage and a 2300 mAh battery or $399 for 32 GB of storage and a 3000 mAh battery. We have a feeling the 16GB variation won’t have to many friends!
