The LG Lucid Becomes a Beacon of Affordable Clarity for Users looking for 4G LTE
Late last month LG took to the streets of MWC and announced its latest and greatest device with the LG Optimus VU. This super sized, ultra powerful smart phone was set to compete with the likes of the Galaxy Note. Unfortunately, LG really didn’t show off anything else. Today, a few weeks after the world conference, Verizon hit the press with the announcement of LG’s latest LTE concoction. The LG Lucid formerly leaked sporting the code name, LG Cayman. It has now since been rendered, leaked a bit more and of course made official. So what does the Lucid have to offer? Let’s see if we can find out.
The LG Lucid initially hit the rumor mill as the LG Cayman leaking out in name alongside the LG Spectrum, Droid 4 and Droid Fighter amongst others. The Cayman then showed its name again in an internal Verizon document showing launch dates of unannounced phones. Both leaks came into this world by the likes of DroidLife.com. The planned release date of the Cayman from the last leak, pegged it for a March 29th launch date. Shortly their after the rumor mill produced a rendering and a name change of the LG Lucid. Today Verizon confirms its existence and sticks to its guns setting the Lucid up for a March 29th launch. The LG Lucid comes into this world packing in some excellent specs and carries an amazingly low price tag. The cost of high end computing power, connected to the super fast LTE 4G has just been shrunk. While the leaks and details of the Lucid began to spring, the price assumption was capped at two hundred bucks and expected to be slightly less than that. Today Verizon shocked the world by pricing LG Lucid at $80 bucks on a new contract and a rebate or two. The LG Lucid packs in some excellence for such a small price. The LG Lucid measures in at 119 x 62 x 11 mm. 4 inches of its housing hold in a perfect Gorilla Glass protected WVGA touch screen that clocks a 480×800 pixel resolution. Internally the Lucid will get its go and usability with the likes of Android version 2.3, which is upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich aka 4.0. The LG Lucid also houses a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, a dedicated graphics processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It also sports expandable micro SD memory options. Around back the Lucid packs in a 5 mega pixel camera that supports auto focus, geo location tagging, and an LED flash and full 1080p HD video recording. Up front a VGA quality camera is in place for all your video conferencing needs. Additional details give the Lucid Bluetooth version 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n, micro USB, DLNA connectivity with SmartShare, and Swype keyboard. And that’s about it.
