The True Cost of an iPhone 4G

For the techy geeks who are not satisfied with just appreciating the physical design of the iPhone 4G, we have gathered a list of items as well their estimated prices which one would expect to find under the iPhone 4G hood. This is based on Jeffrey Brown’s estimate on the cost of each item. Jeffrey Brown is the VP of Business Intel for UBM TechInsights. All in all, the cost to make a single iPhone 4G unit is $175, a mere $18 more than the iPhone 3GS model. Some of the major improvements for this new generation of the iPhone includes the processor, touch sensitive screen as well as the casing. Another major factor which can greatly affect the price is the onboard memory. The previously mentioned price of $175 is for a 16 GB unit and can rise to $250 for a 64 GB unit.

There are still a number of factors to consider when it comes to the price besides the onboard memory. This includes the OS, operating system, not to mention marketing and so on. Just considering the manufacturing of the iPhone 4G, the price can still change depending on specific items. Brown indicates that “if the screen resolution is wrong and the casing is not as fancy as assumed, one could lop off $20.” Makes you think how if it is really worth the cash.
