Huawei’s Ascend G312 QWERTY Pegged as the Latest Sliding myTouch Buddy!

Remember the myTouch series of devices? HTC was the initial T-Mo branded myTouch manufacturer with the myTouch 3G after a few variations and generations shortly thereafter LG took the myTouch helm with their variants. Now it looks to be Huawei’s turn. The myTouch devices are a staple within the T-Mo line up and for good reason. The handsets usually provide mid to high end specs that may not be the leader of the class, but sit well in the hands of the general end user. After a bit of leaking, a hint from Mr. Blurrycam and renderings the Huawei myTouch Huawei Ascend G312 QWERTY is shaping up to be the next myTouch Buddy.

Early this month Pocketnow.com got their hands on some renderings of what the next myTouch variation would look like, alongside some minor details about the version of Android it will run and model numbers. Additional and surely not surprisingly the Huawei myTouch is set to offer both slate style designs as well as a full QWERTY option. About eight days ago a new vision of the Huawei myTouch hit the rumor mill as the first real picture of the device. Outside of the new pictures no new details of the unit emerged, until today. Engadget has miraculously gotten some hands on time with unannounced, unofficial, Huawei myTouch QWERTY slider. The site took a spin on the QWERTY version of the new device and has some details! The slider is displayed in Huawei’s headquarters as the Ascend G312 QWERTY, however within the devices “about” section it describes itself as your “Buddy”. The screen is set to measure in at 4 inches and provide WVGA quality. Internally the site goes on to confirm that the keyboard toting myTouch uses a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon S2 Qualcomm MSM8255T chip set to get its go. The device was also caught running Android version 2.3.6 however its list of greatness stated ICS. Only time will tell on that. Additional details give this unit 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, 4GB of internal storage and of course expandable microSD memory options. We can also expect DLNA connectivity, a 5 second boot time (amazing!), a front facing VGA quality camera and a 5 mega pixel main shooter that can record video in 720p. The size of the new Ascend G312 QWERTY measures in at 124.8 x 63.9 x 14.3mm. The new Huawei has been stacking up in the leaks department and after catching it on full display it seems that its launch is imminent.
