HTC Raider 4G Makes its debut in Korea – Likely to make a Holiday appearance elsewhere around the globe
Hot on the heels of the announcement of the HTC Rhyme and the Explorer, HTC is at it again. Back in August a very large HTC android device leaked out of the wild with a large broken screen and what seemed to be a California license plate known as the HTC Holiday. Today that super large device became official via an HTC press release and will go by the name of the HTC Raider 4G , but it’s not slated for a northern California launch…at least not immediately.
The newly announced Raider 4G reads like a power house. It carries high end specs and a pretty nice overall design. The Raider 4G will be launched in Korea to be used on South Korean LTE networks. When connected to the LTE network the device is said to be able to pull 100 Mbps on the down and up to 50 Mbps up. Pretty fast, even without LTE its HSPA speeds are said to clock in at 21 Mbps down and 5.76 Mbps up. So what can one expect internally? In a word awesomeness, but let’s take a gander shall we. This new monster phone solidifies its monster status with a 4.5 inch qHD IPS touch screen. The Raider 4G runs the latest Android version 2.3 or Gingerbread if you’re hungry and of course will be skinned with the likeliness of HTC Sense version 3.0 with an update to 3.5 in the future. The greatness of Android in the Raider 4G is powered by the likes of a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 16 GB of internal storage and 1 GB of RAM, sounds good to me, but there is more. The rear facing camera on this bad boy gets some bonus points out of the gate as it seems to sit very flush with the phone design. The camera is an 8 mega pixel shooter that sports an LED flash and an f/2.2 lens and can easily record video in 1080p. Amazingly the front facing camera clocks in at 1.3 mega pixels and can capture video in 720p, or at least that’s how I read the into the translation. The Raider 4G will also come equipped with HTC’s Watch application that will allow its user to stream movies and TV shows directly to their phone. This phone will launch in Korea sometime in the very near future, and while HTC has not dropped word on an international release its expected to hit an At&t location near you sometime in the future. Below is some video of the new Raider 4G in action and its presentation.
