HTC’s myTouch 4G Slide makes itself official
In the last few weeks there have been numerous blurry cam and not so blurry cam leaks of the HTC myTouch 4G Slide. This new slider device has kept the QWERTY loving crowd on its toes in anticipation of picking up a new phone. Initial rumors of the device popped up on leaked T-Mo roadmaps and in blurry cam pictures all over the interwebs. The new slider has been code named the HTC DoubleShot until today as it has become official. Recent rumors and leaks have told us a lot about this new device, but now it has become official, so let’s take a look at its official goodness.
The HTC myTouch 4G Slide is the full QWERTY slider that is replacing the G2. The G2 was recently stamped with an EOL branding and then this bad boy shows up. So doing the math, well you get the idea. Just as its new official title ensues, the myTouch 4G Slide does indeed come 4G compatible and ready to get you amazing data speeds on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network. Under the belly of this QWERTY sits a dual core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor that makes everything fast and well, snappy. Above sitting above that raw power is a four row soft key QWERTY that is sure to please, sitting above that? Well a 3.7 inch Super LCD display that will give you an excellent 480×800 pixel resolution. The myTouch 4G Slide will come equipped with Android version 2.3, support for everyone’s favorite one touch texting SWYPE (trying to convert you QWERTY lovers) as well as the recently launched mobile version of Netflix. The camera on this myTouch 4G Slide is getting some critical acclaim as well. The camera unit is housing an 8 mega pixel shooter that is capable of recording video in full 1080p HD. The details of this 8 mega pixel camera, is something HTC could use a bit more of. The camera unit and software is said to have been heavily tweaked by HTC making it the “Most Advanced Camera of Any Smartphone”. The new camera unit uses backside illumination, which is commonly found in many point and shoot cameras as well as the iPhone 4. The lens on this 8 mega pixel camera has also received a bump allowing it to shoot at f/2.2 as compared to the iPhone 4’s f/ 2.4, this essentially allowing you to take better pictures in low light situations. Other details of the camera’s new software include Zero Shutter lag which will get you that shot when it happens, SweepShot as HTC is calling it is a new feature that will allow you to take panoramic pictures by “sweeping across an entire scene in a single motion”, ClearShot brings HDR into the fold which allows for higher quality snaps without them being “affected by high-contrast lighting” and lastly BurstShot will allow you to capture multiple pictures in one quick burst. Sounds great, hopefully all of these features aren’t too hard to access while using the camera! Here’s an official video from T-Mo about the great new camera on the myTouch Slide 4G.
You can expect all the other details to fall into place as well, Sense 3.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The myTouch 4G Slide will be available from your favorite T-Mo spot in July, you will have the option of the black or kaki color ways. Are you interested in the new HTC myTouch 4G Slide?
