Shortages on the HTC Incredible

With all the commercials flooding the television waves, the adverts are certainly doing their part in raising the hype and making consumers yearn all the more for their own HTC Droid Incredible. The smartphone is a hit with consumers, boasting of sell outs within hours of shipments arriving at the respective retailers. Some reports indicate that Verizon has sold 100,000 during the first two days of the HTC Droid Incredible’s release. The device is even said to be the best competitor against the upcoming iPhone 4G. Sad to say though, the carrier Verizon has been unable to keep up with the demand.

“We’re getting as many as we can as quickly as we can,” according to Brenda Raney, spokesperson for the carrier company.

Although the HTC smartphone has been released last month, the reinforcement supplies have not come as soon as consumers would have hoped. According to Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon, “When a shipment gets to a store now, it’s gone in a matter of hours…We’ve had to pull way back. Right now supply is a big problem.”

The Big Red carrier company blames the shortage on HTC. One of the factors that may have caused the shortage is the lack of the capacitive touch sensitive screen panels made by Samsung. Samsung is currently increasing their production to meet the demand. Once the shortage on touch screens is taken care of, Verizon is expected to meet the current demand for the HTC Droid Incredible within the next one or two months and sell more smartphones. “The Incredible has done very well for us. We could sell twice the number I have at this point,” says McAdam.

Verizon hopes to meet the demand before the iPhone is expected to be unveiled this coming June 7 at the WWDC. Steve Jobs, CEO of the company, has confirmed making the keynote speech during the event.
