The HTC Droid DNA Get’s Official


In the past few months HTC’s secret phablet project has leaked all over the place and now, the leaks and rumors can finally come to an end. HTC has been out of the loop for a while since there launch of the One series devices, but they are back to toss their name into the oversized smart phone phablet ring. Samsung, as in many other markets have been dominating the oversized smart phone niche with their infamous Note and Note II but now a new contender has entered the fray. Officially named the Droid DNA, the new HTC Device has been announced by HTC and Verizon today.

The Droid DNA went through a few name changes as it spun around the rumor mill but ended with DNA. A Droid dedicated press event held by HTC and Verizon have ousted the oversized handset today. The Droid DNA is open for pre-order today and will be made officially available the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday the 22nd. The DNA will come to the market priced at $200 bucks on a new two year contract. So what’s in a name and a price tag? Running the latest in Android 4.1 and Sense 4+, the Droid DNA is an awesome 5 inch S-LCD 3 touch screen device that offers an amazing class leading 1080×1920 pixel resolution at an amazingly dense 441 pixels per inch. Internally it comes packing a Qualcomm made Snapdragon S4 quad core system chip that clocks in at 1.5 GHz. Additional graphics processing will be processed by a dedicated Adreno 320 GPU. Add in 2 GB of Ram and 16 GB of built in storage and you end up with an amazingly high powered computer in your pocket. Other features of the DNA are offered up by an 8 mega pixel camera with LED flash and an F2.0 aperture. With a slew of camera tricks up its sleeve the DNA can also record video in full 1080p HD and also offers up a front facing camera with a 2.1 mega pixel sensor. The Droid DNA also comes with an all day 2020 mAh battery, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Micro USB 2.0, HDMI, MHL, DLNA, and NFC. With a combination of all its features and its slim 9.73 mm build, the Droid DNA is an amazing new option.
