The HTC DIx Droid Phablet Leaks a little More
Has anyone been wondering where HTC has been in the past few months? Me neither. HTC came out of the gates swinging a few months back with their latest refresh to the company’s flagship line up. The One series of devices brought us the One X, One V, and One S and even the EVO 4G LTE to the forefront of the mobile world, unfortunately for the handset manufacturer the likes of Samsung’s Galaxies were seemingly too much…or so it seems. HTC has gone on to launch the likes of the Droid Incredible 4G LTE since then but the device seems more of a place holder for the HTC Droid legacy. Currently the question on everyone’s mind is what will HTC do to compete with Samsung and LG’s presence in the oversized phablet market?
An oversized smart phone used to be a wondering phenomenon that never really found a place within the consumer market. But Samsung and LG have changed that paradigm with the Galaxy Note and the LG Intuition aka Optimus VU. Now it seems that it may be HTC’s turn. Back in August a rumor surrounding the company’s plans for a new super sized smart phone emerged into the rumor mill. The un named device was leaked by an “industry sources” who gave up particular details about the devices screen size, pixel per inch ratio and even resolution. More recent leaks have given us a better look as to what this mystery phablet would look like. According to some new details from HTCSource.Com the new oversized smart phone is currently being referred to as the HTC Dix. Dix supposedly standing for Droid Incredible X. The HTC Dix is said to come with a 5 inch touch screen that provides a full 1080p pixel resolution with a pixel per inch ratio clocking in around 440 to 480. Additionally this new monster device will pack in a quad core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1.5 GB of Ram and 16GB of internal storage. The leaky spy shots of the device, its DIX nomenclature and robotic Droid-esq notification sound, is leading many to believe this new oversized HTC handset will be branded and launched as a part of the legendary Droid line up.
Anyone interested in a 1794×1080 5 inch smart phone from HTC? I know I am. While this device is still in its rumored phase, an expected announcement on the phablet is expected sometime this fall. Sound off in the comments below and let us know if you would be interested in a high end 5 inch HD smart phone from HTC. And as always, the very best in HTC accessories are here.

the instructions per second this processor will offer are quite extra ordinary, my calculations put it at 19800 MIPS(IPS per core is 3.3 * number of cores [4] * the clock of the processor, 1.5ghz=19800MIPS), just above the processor in the xbox 360 (6 years old, so not a surprise) that runs a total of 19200 MIPS. this phone, yea, its faster than your 360 if it in fact running the APQ8064 Snapdragon S4.

HTC to me is the best. Can’t wait for this phone if it actually comes out. Resolution on a screen of that size has to be great. Not to mention the latest Android OS as well as a great processor. And of course, HTC Sense no one beats it!

Not sure if I’m ready to go that big on the screen, but I’ve been hoping HTC would bring a real One X style device to Verizon before I’m up for an upgrade. If the bezel is thin enough, I may consider it.

If the intuition had a 16:9 instead of 4:3 ratio it would be great. The write on screen as Galaxy note is finally going to let us replace the yellow paper pad – when they get it right. The right size is somewhere between 4.7 and 5.5 inch for the pocketable version and 8.5 – 10.5 for big daddy version. Writie on screen pixel per inch is important for smooth writing and the new devices are getting there now. We need a couple more generations of evolution and then we will reach the standardized plateau which is where laptop and desktop computers are today.
