The HTC Amaze 4G gets official
As the launch of a refreshed iPhone looms over the mobile market like a huge mushroom cloud that covers the sun, many manufacturers are pumping out new devices to compete while they can. Okay, so maybe that’s an exaggeration. However, HTC is steadily launching new phones as of the past few weeks filling some pretty narrowed niches along the way, and it seems that they are not done yet. While big red gets the women centric HTC Rhyme, and across the pond their jamming out to their Beats Audio Sensation XE, T-Mobile customers will get a taste of some HTC exclusiveness as well…enter the HTC Amaze 4G.
Yesterday T-Mobile at Mobilize 2011 the carrier took to the podium to announce two new phones. One of these devices being the TMo Galaxy S II variant, while the other being the Amaze 4G. The Amaze 4G was initially leaked back in July when it was caught snapping pictures of the HTC Flyer at the time it was code named the HTC Ruby. The Ruby was caught again shortly their after with accompanied specs and it seems as if those leaky specs stuck. The good juicy stuff starts with a 4.3 inch qHD touch screen display, which ultimately houses a Qualcomm SnapdragonTM S3 dual core Processor that clocks in at 1.5 GHz. To further the snappy process the Amaze, you’ll get 1 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. As you may have noticed, this new smart phone is indeed 4G compatible and can use T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network to pull speeds on the downstream up to 42 Mbps, superfast! The Amaze 4G also marks a first for HTC with an NFC chip embedded into the device. The Amaze 4G will run the latest in Android goodness version 2.3.4 and will be skinned with HTC’s latest rendition of their popular UI Sense. You can also expect the standards like, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, microUSB and HDMI (via the microUSB). If that’s not enough for you HTC has gone the extra mile with the Amaze’s camera. This shooter clocks in at 8 mega pixels and can record video in full 1080p as well as a 2 mega pixel front facing camera for all those video calls. The main camera however, comes with a few perks. These perks include HTC’s very own SmartShot setting that according to the press release “captures five photos and creates the best shot using clear faces with smiles and no blinking.”But that’s not all on the camera front, PerfectPics is another HTC creation and takes select pictures and puts them into a separate photo album based on filters that “prioritizes photos by using criteria such as important calendar events, the presence of faces, and overall picture quality.” In addition to these features the camera can pull the same tricks the myTouch 4G Slide can with SweepShotTM, ClearShot HDRTM and BurstShot TM. As you can see HTC has taken a liking to high quality cameras and their overall abilities. The handset also features a dedicated shutter button for snapping pictures and a dedicated record button for making home movies. Check out ThisismyNext.com hands on review below.
