Is HTC Set to Unveil a 64 Bit Desire 820?
More details surrounding HTC’s 64 Bit Desire surface into the headlines. What seems like many moons ago Apple produced the world’s first 64 Bit smart phone with the iPhone 5S setting the pace for the industries future standard. Now as companies like Qualcomm, Nvidia, Intel and even MediaTek are producing 64 Bit mobile chip’s its likely we will begin to see them everywhere. It seems that HTC will be getting on the 64 Bit bandwagon with an unlikely brand. The Desire series from HTC is no longer the high end flagship it once was, however it may be bringing the next generation in processing to the company’s portfolio.
About ten days ago details surrounding a new mid-range Desire appeared in the headlines thanks to @UpLeaks. Code named the A11 the handset was not expected to be a high end or flagship model. Today A11 got a name and an update to its spec sheet. According to G4Games via Weibo.Com HTC has begun teasing what will be known as the Desire 820 and additional details have come to light. The new information suggests the device will be running with a Qualcomm made Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor that packs in eight Cortex-A53 cores. Four of these cores are clocked in at 1.8 GHz for heavy graphics intensive computation while the other four clocks in at 1 GHz for the more mundane tasks a phone is asked to do. Keep in mind however device will most likely be under clocked when compared to the current flagship One M8 for obvious reasons. Previously leaked details give the Desire 820 a 4.7 inch touch screen, a 5 mega pixel camera and it will run with Android version 4.4.2 out of the box. The Desire 820 is expected to see its official announcement at IFA in Berlin in the coming weeks.
