Facebook App Goes Version 3.2.2 for iPhone
Android and BlackBerry have both gotten updates for their Facebook apps so it is only natural that the iPhone received Facebook version 3.2.2 today. Don’t worry, it’s not just the iPhone that has the update, so does the iPod touch and the iPad. So what is new?
The user interface has gotten a bit of an upgrade and you can now check into places right from your news feed. You can also jump straight to the photos on your device and set your status from the news feed, which still unfortunately opens by default when you launch the app. The new Groups feature is in there as well, and I’m actually quite pleased with it.
The biggest change though in the iOS Facebook app is the inclusion the ability to change account settings, privacy settings and go to the Facebook help center. You can find these options by going to the main screen and tapping the ‘Account’ button in the upper left hand corner. This actually launches a mini, browser view of the main Facebook site within the application. It works though and saves you time if you need to change or check something.
There are still some bugs in the app, but it is getting better. I haven’t had to actually open the mobile or full version of the site on iOS yet today which is quite an accomplishment. The Places feature hasn’t grown on me yet, even though it’s been around for a little while now, but as the BlackBerry and Android platforms gain the ability, I expect to use it more myself. The more friends using it, the more I am inclined to after all.
Some of the photo bugs that have been very frustrating using the app are fixed now. I’ve noticed numerous ones in the past but haven’t experienced any of them yet today. Of course, time will tell. It is good though that the iOS version remains the most up-to-date and arguably the best Facebook app available for smartphones.
If you haven’t updated yet, grab your iOS device and go the iTunes App Store. Your icon is probably already notifying you of the update already. Get it installed and let me know what you think of it. I’m noticing that it runs a little faster as well and it hasn’t crashed yet on me today either.
