Droid Incredible Froyo OTA made available today
In the land of milk and honey, most Android users just want a little Froyo in their lives. The HTC Droid Incredible has been on the back burner of the 2.2 update for months and the wait is finally over. Yesterday revealed a leaked version of the update that could be installed manually by the user. Did anyone manually update? I only ask because today Droid Incredible users should be seeing OTA updates to their devices that are packing Froyo.
The HTC Droid Incredible is literally an Incredible device. But what could make the device any better? Froyo, of course. Yesterday brought the interwebs an un-official leak of the Froyo update for Incredible users and it looks like Verizon may have gotten wind of this leak and finally announced they would be releasing the OTA for the Incredible. The OTA starts today, so be on the lookout for it. You can head over to support.vzw.com to check out the full list of how the Froyo update will improve your Incredible. But a short rundown of the main features are listed here. The Incredible after the update will run now run full Flash based material on the web with the Flash Player 10.1 update, recording video in 720p is now a possibility, Wi-Fi 802.11n is now supported and you will now be able to use your Incredible as a 3G mobile hotspot. Now the list really goes on and there very well could be an update in the list that you were waiting for so go check it out. Other than the goodies listed here, Incredible users should expect overall performance improvements as well as battery life improvements.
So be on the lookout for your OTA, but make sure your Incredible is looking for the update, go to Settings>System Updates>HTC Software updates>Check the Scheduled Check box. This will bring the update to your phone when the network allows. Or you could always keep clicking the “Check Now” box.
But go get your Froyo on Incredible users, it’s long overdue. Then comment and let us know what you think!

Still no update. Getting frustrated. The company that I work for has Spring and all the bosses have Evos with 2.2. I am jellous.

I got the update last week and I pressed install, but the window went away and nothing happened. I checked my settings and I’m at 2.1 still and it says there is no update available. Any help?

Got the Froyo update. Severe disappointments. First there is software that I do not want (such as skype, VZ navigator, City ID) that I can not delete from the phone because it is installed in the ROM.
Second, I can not get my Vonage voicemail, that comes as a .wav file, to play anymore. I searched and I need to doownload an app for $2.99 for the .wav file to play. This is annyoing and unnecessary. I see that upgrading a phone should not delete features (unless they are redundant)but only enhance the phone. Finally, there is always a lot of software that just starts automatically consuming memory and delaying the procressor. I know of the other advantages but I miss my “old” Incredible software. I think the phone was faster before….

My buddy’s Evo has that menu, but my Incredible does not. Are you sure that is correct? The only system update thing I see is in the “About Phone” section. You hit it, and it says you’re up to date immediately. I wish it would at least take a second or two to check so it seems like it’s doing more.
