Europe gets a G2 in the new HTC Desire Z
HTC is quite obviously famous at this point for making some high end smart phones. The manufacturer has been in the lab cooking up some goodness for the world and has just shown the world what is ready to be seen. HTC held a press event in London today and launched a few new phones. The new HTC Desire Z has essentially be shown off already as the T-Mobile based G2, there are few differences between the two, however the device is still looking good.
The new Desire Z as I said has been shown off in the past weeks under the G2 moniker via T-Mobile. A teaser site from T-Mobile, a slew of spy pics…you know the story. But today the Desire Z was officially launched via HTC’s event in London. When looking at the two devices the only real difference that I can notice are the quick keys. When the G2 hit the interwebs there was some interest surrounding the two keys that fall to the right of the spacebar, as well as a single key that falls to the left of the key board. When looking at the new pictures of the Desire Z it seems that the left sided quick key has been removed. The Desire Z still holds the full QWERTY form factor with a slider design centered on the Z-Hinge as the name Desire Z surely implies. The Desire Z will be sporting a 3.7 in capacitive touch screen, and rocking an 800MHz Snapdragon processor that is also found in its American counterpart the G2. The Desire Z will carry with it 1.5GB of internal storage and micro SD capabilities up to 32GB. The Desire Z just as the G2 will ship with Android version 2.2. However, looking at the pictures captured from the event it seems that the new Desire Z will indeed be running HTC’s sense as apposed to the G2 model which is senseless and running purely on stock Android. The Desire Z rocks a 5MP camera and can record video moments in 720p, also expect the standards, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Desire Z is slated to hit across Europe under the Vodafone moniker with others sure to follow soon after that. But expect it to reach land in October. Check the full spec listing below and let us know what you think about the new Desire Z.
