Should You Get the BlackBerry Torch 9800 or Wait for the Storm 3?
This is a big question that a lot of BlackBerry users must be asking themselves—should they grab the new BlackBerry Torch 9800 with its sliding keyboard and touchscreen, or wait for the touchscreen only Storm 3. It’s a more difficult question than you might think. On the one hand, the Torch has the QWERTY keyboard that BlackBerry users love. On the other, the Storm 3 is expected to be faster, have a better screen, and have some type of mobile hotspot ability.
What may tip the scales for some is the possibility that the Storm 3 may have LTE (4G) technology. While LTE is not widely available yet, many large metro areas are getting it. You know, where all of those BlackBerry business users work.
However, quite a few people are stuck in an uncomfortable upgrade position. Their current BlackBerry will not be supported by Research In Motion (RIM) for an upgrade to BlackBerry OS 6. OS 6 brings plenty of badly needed features that many BlackBerry owners wish they already had. Social Feeds organizes all your messaging clients and social media sites in one place. Or how about the new browser? Webkit-based (like Apple and Google’s mobile browsers) it makes you actually enjoy surfing the web on a BlackBerry.
Do these people wait around with the outdated smartphones for the new Storm or upgrade now and get some much needed improvement immediately? I am sure that this is a vexing question rolling around in many BlackBerry users minds. The biggest advantage that I can think of for choosing the Torch option, is that once it’s time to upgrade again, 4G will be in your area. An entire new generation of smartphones will be coming out and your upgrade time will have come again.
So which option are you going to choose? Get the Torch now since you need a new phone or anguish with your current one until the Storm 3 comes? That’s a difficult question. Or what if you’re with a BlackBerry that supports an upgrade to OS 6? Will that keep you happy for a while longer? I look forward to hearing what you think.

Just had the torch in my hands! Now I’ll never switch to ATT but I like the feel of it!!! I hope they leave the keyboard on the bottom for the storm 3. just feels better there! with all the other upgrades to it that they are talking of it should be great!
My advice to other users….stay with the SURE THING = Blackberry! that is unless you want your privacy violated with every move you make! Like what happens with Droid! Trust me…I’ve been there already in less than 2 months of having a droid! my yahoo email hacked into after not having ANY trouble with it for many years!
Blackberry IS the sure thing! And I will be going back to BB as soon as I see the storm 3 at verizon!!!
I’m sorry I left!!
But don’t get disappointed and get the torch at ATT!!! that’s like getting a car and not getting the gas to drive it!

SHOW ME THE STORM 3!!!
I’m waiting and hoping that it’s all they say it will be!
I’ve tried droid and just don’t trust the security/privacy of it all! I would rather feel safe with my BB!
I’m a crackberry at heart…so i am hoping they have stepped up their game!
Droid has alot of bells and whistles; but let’s be real….wouldn’t you really want security of your private information???

Tmobile has me locked into a 2 year contract until April 2011. The worst part is that I explicitly remember paying more for my BB 8900 just to have a one year contract that would be up by now. If they would let me go, I would get the Torch 9800 because I need the QWERTY keyboard. I can’t stand onscreen keyboards. There isn’t any tactile response. Having said thay, maybe the torch would grant me the learning curve needed to migrate to the storm 3. Looks like my only option is an unlocked $9800 for $700. )-;
