Blackberry Announces the Q5
Blackberry announces the Q5! If you haven’t heard Blackberry is on a tear making its way back into the smart phone market with their fancy new operating system and handsets. The Blackberry Z10 and the Q10 have introduced Blackberry 10 to the masses and now a lower end model is ready to solidify the operating system in smart phone legend! For the last month or so leaky details of what was being called the Blackberry R10 has been popping up all over the place. Today the company formerly known as RIM has made the R10 a reality; however it is officially known as the Q5!
After a handful of R10 leaks Blackberry has official announced the device under the Q5 name. As what can only be described as a Curve successor, the Q5 looks to be ready to fill in the low range smart phone and emerging markets. Officially the Q5 will come with a 3.1 inch touch screen that is strategically placed above a legendary four row QWERTY keyboard. Unfortunately the company did not announce any specific details on the handsets spec sheet, however early reports on the handset give it an 1800 mAh battery, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage and a 5 mega pixel camera. The Blackberry Q5 will be released in “selected markets” starting in July. Some selected markets include, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The Q5 will be offered in black, pink, white and red colors. Unfortunately, a price point has not been announced however the devices pitch will be directed at the youth of the world, so it is may be safe to assume the device will be rather affordable. As its launch date looms closer more details on what the Q5 will offer internally will surely see the light, but until then, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
