Android Froyo for Most 2010 HTC Phones
There have been numerous reports on the Android 2.2 Froyo and its features over the past few weeks. With the recent developers conference, Google has even made numerous presentations on the capabilities of the new Android OS, boasting of speeds hundreds of times faster than its predecessors. Devices running the Froyo OS will be able to use the tethering and mobile hotspot options, connecting several devices to the Internet through the Android smartphone. Even the enterprise sector is being won over with security features like minimum length for passwords, remote data wiping and a lot more.
With the numerous features the Android 2.2 OS has to offer, HTC smartphone owners may wondering when they are going to get their much awaited updates, if ever. Here is HTC’s official word on the matter:
“…if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can’t be more specific yet.”
This means consumers who have purchased HTC smartphones previously mentioned will get their Froyo updates sometime soon. Until the official list becomes available, chances are looking slim for those who bought their smartphones much earlier than 2010. Hopefully, HTC will be including more models for the upgrade. If not, current HTC smartphone owners may have to fork out more cash in order to enjoy the Android 2.2.Android 2.2, HTC, Froyo
