A Big Red LG Optimus VU Passes Through the FCC

The life of an oversized smart phone has just recently begun to break the mold of the more tame sized handsets. Blame it on the Dell Streak, or blame it on the Galaxy Note the oversized phablets as some are calling them are invading our smart phone space! Right around the time Samsung launched the likes of their wildly popular Galaxy Note LG took to the streets with their own over sized LG Optimus Vu. The Optimus VU is an oversized smart phone that comes packing a 5 inch touch screen and was initially launched in international markets. But a new piece of leak is showing us that the LG Optimus VU may be making its way state side!

While a score of big red Verizon customer sit and wait patiently for the availability of the super large Galaxy note, the LG-VS950 has passed through the FCC’s door ways to smash that Sammy dream into pieces. The LG-VS950 has made its way through the governmental gate keeper on June 28th and was filed as being tested on Verizon’s LTE bandwidths. Additionally, the 4G LTE branding on the rear side of the device is most obviously in the font of Verizon. While the details of this FCC filing could prove to not be an Optimus VU, the size, square shape and location of the speakers pretty much confirms it is indeed an Optimus VU. So what’s, in an Optimus VU? Well a whole lot actually. It starts with a huge 5 inch 768×1024 IPS LCD touch screen that provides 256 pixels per inch. Internally it rocks a 1.5 GHz dual core processor that is backed by 32 GB of internal memory. Around back an 8 mega pixel camera with LED flash, auto focus, geo tagging, video recording, and a front facing 1.3 mega pixel shooter round out your camera options. Include connectivity like, Bluetooth, WI-Fi, Micro USB, HDM and DLNA. The Optimus VU runs with Android version 2.3 Gingerbread. Keep in mind most of these specs are release details for the international version of the VU, so the Verizon version details could change.
